Kids eager to share knowledge during NV150 fair

The Nevada Sesquicentennial Fair will consist of five days of family fun at Fuji Park starting July 30. The fair will run through Aug. 3.

The event will feature agricultural and livestock activities, a carnival, evening entertainment and community showcases. The 4-H and Future Farmers of America will sponsor a livestock show, auction and small animal show and numerous static events including sewing, baking and various crafts.

This event will highlight the “best of Nevada” agriculture, mining and culture as well as reflect upon their historic contributions. The family oriented fair and activities are reminiscent of days gone by, and youth and adults are encouraged to participate in the numerous exhibits. Some of the many entry categories include: “My Favorite Apple Pie,” floral design, Lego creations, paintings, quilting, rocketry, duct tape creations and more. Entries are accepted from all residents of Nevada and select counties of Northern California. Livestock Breeding Shows are open for everyone to enter.

“As a boy, I was a member of 4-H and remember the excitement of going to the fair,” said Gov. Brian Sandoval. “Not only were these events fun, but they were also invaluable learning experiences. I encourage all Nevadans to visit the Nevada Sesquicentennial Fair, and join in celebrating our state’s 150th anniversary of statehood.”

The Nevada 150 Fair will be held at Fuji Park.

“I am thrilled to see the introduction of the Nevada Fair in Carson City,” said Erin Lehman, 4-H Horse Leader. “This event is a fabulous opportunity for 4-H and FFA kids to share with the public what they learn during their participation in these organizations. I encourage kids to prepare early: work with their animals, design their crafts and join us at the fair.”
