Youth Theatre Carson City is thrilled to announce the upcoming production of “SEUSSICAL, JR.,” an adventure through the world of Dr. Seuss. The show will run two weekends, July 25–August 3 in the Bob Boldrick Theatre at the Carson City Community Center.
“SEUSSICAL, JR.” is fun for the whole family. More than 70 young local performers portray all the characters from the popular Dr. Seuss books in this musical extravaganza.
Transporting audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat, the narrator tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos, including Jojo, a Who child who gets in trouble for thinking too many “thinks.” Horton’s challenge is twofold – not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must also guard an abandoned egg that’s been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family, and community are challenged and emerge triumphant.
The cast is comprised entirely of children ages 5 to 18. Leading the cast is the Cat in the Hat played by local favorites Trenton Lynn, 14, and Grant Davis, 17. Also featured are a cast of lively characters including Audrey Cook, 11, and Jacob Nichols, 11, as JoJo the Who and Aspen Kloehn, 17, as Horton the Elephant.
SEUSSICAL, JR. will run July 25, 26, and August 1, 2 at 7 p.m. and July 27 and August 3 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $12 general admission, $10 students and seniors, For tickets or more information, visit the website at www.youththeatrecarsoncity.com or contact 775-882-0358.
