J. Renee Ekleberry is a local artist who expresses her work through oils, pastels, watercolor, acrylic, photography, Giclee and fine art prints. A number of her works are being exhibited at the Copeland Gallery, corner of Highway 395 and County Road in Minden, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, Aug. 5 through Oct. 1.
Carson Valley Arts Council will sponsor the exhibit and will host a meet the artist reception on Friday, Aug. 8 from 5 to 7 p.m. that is free to the public. Light refreshments will be served. Renee’s works will be sold as priced and the proceeds from sales of the exhibit will be used to launch a project she is calling the “Miraculous Light Project.”
Recently, Renee’s niece, Jenny spent her last few weeks in hospice. As a result of the tender and kind care she and her family received there, Renee decided she would distribute free spiritual artworks to hospices, hospitals, churches and long-term care facilities in her memory.
She’s currently a licensed K-12 substitute teacher with Douglas County School District. She has been a committee secretary with the Nevada State Legislature. She has also been a case worker and Investigator volunteer at CASA as well as a volunteer and grant writer for non-profit organizations.
