Trumble named editor of Appeal

Veteran newsman Adam Trumble has been named editor of the Nevada Appeal.

For more than six years Trumble has served in a variety of news positions, including night news editor and interim editor, for the Nevada Appeal. During that time he continued to take on greater responsibility for the coverage decisions for the Appeal. He also served briefly as the editor of the Appeal’s sister newspaper, The Tahoe Daily Tribune.

“I am excited to build on our foundation at the Appeal,” Trumble said. “I am excited to tell the community’s stories in print and digital mediums of the capital city’s primary news source.”

Trumble, 31, was first attracted to the area after visiting from his home in Michigan eight years ago.

“I was drawn to Carson City by the natural surroundings,” Trumble said. “I am happy to have found a home in Carson City and at the Nevada Appeal.”

He holds a journalism degree from Central Michigan University where he edited the university newspaper. Upon graduation, he worked in news positions with the Alpena, Mich,, News before joining the newsroom at the Nevada Appeal.

“I think our readers and community will really benefit from Adam’s work as editor,” Appeal Publisher Mark Raymond said. “He looks forward to continuing the 149-year conversation the Appeal has had with its readers. I think, along with our news team, he will provide a newspaper that is as vibrant and interesting as the people that call this home.”

In addition, Charles Whisnand has returned to the Appeal to replace Trumble as the night editor. Whisnand served as the Appeal’s sports editor from 2000-2008.
