The Miss Nevada Organization recently crowned its new title holders in Las Vegas.
For the first time, sisters took both the teen and miss crowns. Miss Nevada 2014 is Ellie Smith, a 17-year-old from Henderson. She will be a freshman at Brigham Young University in the fall and will compete for the title of Miss America in September. Her sister, Amy Smith, a 15-year-old Las Vegas Academy of the Arts student, was named Miss Nevada’s Outstanding Teen 2014. She will compete for Miss America’s Outstanding Teen in Orlando in August.
Miss Nevada’s Outstanding Teen Court consisted of fourth runner-up Tia Henderson of Sparks, third runner-up Lauren Thompson of Carson City, second runner-up Carli Gumm of Minden and first runner-up Baylee Bernstein of Henderson. The teen Children’s Miracle Network Miracle Maker award went to Amy Smith.
Miss Nevada’s court consisted of fourth runner-up Alisa Merino of Minden, third runner-up Angelica Bustos of Las Vegas, second runner-up Alexis Hilts of Las Vegas, and first runner-up Bailey Gumm of Minden. The Miss America Academic Award went to Shreya Khosla of Gardnerville. The Miss America Community Service Award and CMN Miracle Maker Award went to Smith.
The Miss Nevada Organization awarded more $15,000 in scholarships.
