Good deed doesn’t go unnoticed
Hey, all you Carsonites, I want you to know there are still really, really nice, caring, helpful people who live in our great city. Their names are Bob and Phyllis Dugan.
I met them June 3 at the credit union where I’d done business, but had put my car keys in my lap, grabbed a Kleenex (it’s spring yet), got out of my car, car keys still on my car seat. They drove me home to get my spare set and drove me back to the credit union and my car. So nice they were, and so appreciative am I.
Thank you again. God will put this down in your books he has for you. So, if you know Bob and Phyllis, give them a hug for me.

GOP can steer country in right direction
I am responding to Ron Lowe’s letter of May 28. Mr. Lowe routinely writes to the Nevada Appeal and his letters always belittle the Republican Party. He is typical of his type of intolerance. If you don’t agree with him, you must be stupid. Insulting individuals of another political party is not the best way to further one’s agenda, oops, I mean political view.
The reason I believe many people are trending toward the Republican Party is because we know the policies of the current administration are not helping our economy. You cannot spend your way to success. Most of us feel our country is going in the wrong direction, not only financially, but also in our standing with the rest of the world. Sadly, the USA is weaker today than in the past.
Mr. Lowe cannot and will not accept this. Is it possible he could be misguided? Or is everyone else wrong? Those of us in Nevada are independent thinkers (even the transplants, like myself). We make our own decisions on what makes sense to us. We don’t need your help, sir.
The best part of his letter was, “The economy is growing by leaps and bounds.” I laughed out loud in disbelief. Tell that to the people in the unemployment line or the young people trying to find work (many with degrees).
Well, I feel a lot better now. Thank God we still live in a country where we all can express our viewpoint without being shot or jailed.
