Two Carson City firms are expanding and a couple of companies from other states are on the cusp of moving to the area, said Kris Holt, executive director of Nevada Business Connections.

Holt said during an NBC breakfast meeting that Vitamin Research Products on Arrowhead Drive and Concept Automation Systems on Research Way are poised for growth. He said Vitamin Research may double inventory while adding some employees and Concept Automation, which previously indicated imminent expansion, is adding 5,000 square feet of space and about a half dozen employees.

He said Stith Printing, Inc., of Santa Fe Springs in southern California may be moving some operations to Carson City and another company, which he noted he couldn’t name as yet, is on the verge of moving in from southern Oregon.

Holt also provided some tribute remarks about Carson City’s former mayor, the late Marv Teixeira, who died on June 5. He said Teixeira was helpful in efforts to lure manufacturers and businesses to the capital city. In addition, he provided data on the city’s and region’s manufacturing to his audience and introduced the day’s breakfast meeting speaker, Nick Marano, Carson City’s new city manager.

Holt said the city has 160 manufacturers, Douglas County has 70 and western Lyon County in the Dayton-Moundhouse corridor has 85. He said 80 percent came at some point from California and 80 percent of those came from southern California. Marano moved here from the San Diego area.
