Please share items about your great state
Hi, my name is Lauren Smith and I am 11 years old. I am in fifth grade in Conway School and our project in fifth grade is state reports. I chose Nevada because I think Nevada is a beautiful state and I want to know more about Nevada. It would be awesome if you could help me with my report! Hope you can help.
What would be a good help would be if you could try to send me these items like a license plate, souvenirs, the state flower, pamphlets, magazines, or even postcards would be a big help! If you could help, that would be great! Also, I would really appreciate it. I hope you understand what I need.
Thank you! Thank you so much for your time. Thank you for considering my request. I appreciate anything you can send would be great! Thank you! Hope you have a great day! Items can be sent to Lauren Smith; Conway School; Mrs. LaRocque’s Class; 19710 SR 534; Mount Vernon, WA 98274.

Leaders wrongheaded on plan for downtown
The level of stupidity shown by this mayor and supes is truly breathtaking. The notion that changing the Carson Street corridor to two lanes and restriping will cause the downtown to recover is ridiculous! Carson is, has been, and always will be a lunch box town! When I moved here 40 some years ago, we had a Gray Reed, Murdoch’s, Wilbur’s, Myers Hardware and Gilbert Drug & Toys. But then the big boys found us and now we have two Home Depots, two Walmarts, Costco and Lowe’s. All big box stores where most of the workers are only concerned with two things — quitting time and payday!
I often compare Carson to Bend, Ore., which I’ve had the privilege to visit once or twice a year for 50 some years. Once the spotted owl and tree huggers killed the logging business in Bend (Brooks-Scanlon) the town almost folded. But then it was discovered by the yuppies and dot-comers. Now you will find it very hard to find a parking place in downtown Bend. This is in spite of Walmart, Costco ad nauseam! The people who live there now would not be caught dead in those stores!
Carson’s population is made up of gout workers and hospital employees and kids. People who are trying to survive. If you throw in the retired population of our area, you might begin to see what I’m talking about! It’s the people.
A wise person once said that we know the price of everything but the value of nothing! This bit of wisdom belongs to this mayor and supes.
