May 3, 1926 - March 3, 2014
Sam Dupuis passed away on March 3rd, 2014 in Wellington, Nevada at the age of 87. He was born in Renton, Washington on May 3rd, 1926. Sam retired to this peaceful area in Nevada 23 years ago after spending his early life in the Seattle area. He will be sorely missed by family and numerous friends. Sam joined the Army Air Corp in 1944 and served until 1946. He then returned to Renton and started work at Boeing. Hydroplane Racing was where he was known as “Seattle Sam.” He raced in the limited outboards from 1955 to 1962. After that, Sam quickly developed a life-long passion for flying airplanes. His life’s work, however, was as a machinist and later a numerical
control programmer for various aircraft companies. He was most proud of his work on the Space Shuttle for Lockheed from tooling through troubleshooting. His wise and gentle counsel guided numerous friends through hard times. Sam is preceded in death by his wife, Kay, father Samuel and mother Eva along with brothers Gerald and Clyde. He is survived by his daughters, Linda Dupuis-Fricke (Wayne) and Gini Prowse (Dave) of Seattle, Washington, his brother Larry Dupuis (Josephine) of Wellington, Nevada, nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at Eastside Memorial Park, 1600 Buckeye Rd, Minden, NV 89423 (775) 782-2215 on Monday, March 10, 2014 at 11am.
