April 21, 1930 - March 21, 2014
Rosemary Dudley Akins Peterson, 83, known to those that knew and loved her as “Rosie”, lost her battle with cancer on Friday, March 21, 2014 at Banner Hospital. Born April, 21, 1930 in Claypool, Arizona to Jay and Juanita Dudley. The family moved to Fallon when Rosie was a small child. She attended Churchill County schools, graduating from CCHS. Rosie wore many hats through her life, bartending at the Roadside Inn, cashier in Verdi at The Last Chance Casino and Restaurant, waitress at Leno’s, bartender at Mom’s Place and in her later years she became a Ginsue Acupressure Therapist. But, first and always she was a mom, later years a grandmother and a great-grandmother. Rosie had a relationship with her children and grandchildren that was more than special, she was always up for any adventure, game, prank, that they wanted her to be a participant of, and of course she taught them a few herself. Rosie knew no strangers, she was always curious about people and she would talk to anyone, she had the quickest wit and a sense of humor as big as all outdoors. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Preceded in death by her sons, Stanley Akins; Michael Akins; her parents; father of her children, Gene Akins; husband, Jim Peterson and companion, Basil Cislini. Rosie is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David and Beth Akins; daughter and son-in-law, Terri and Mike Calleas all of Fallon; grandchildren, Kim; Darcy; Gene; David and Kristy; numerous great-grandchildren. There will be a Celebration of Rosie’s life on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at The Gardens Chapel at 1:00 PM with a potluck gathering to follow at the Elk’s Lodge. Donations may be made in Rosie’s memory to the Fallon Youth Club PO Box 895 Fallon, NV. 89407. Arrangements are under the direction of The Gardens Funeral Home 2949 Austin Highway Fallon, NV. 775 423-8928.
