Carson City’s City Manager Advisory Committee, which will review five candidates seeking the top post here, will hold an orientation session at 4 p.m. Monday in the Community Center’s Sierra Room.
The interviews are scheduled the next day in the same place, but an intervening meet-the-city-manager-candidates reception is set for Monday evening at the Plaza Hotel Conference Center downtown. The Plaza Hotel is at 801 S. Carson St., and the center is behind it. The open reception is from 5:30-7:30 p.m. that evening.
The public may attend the afternoon orientation meeting, but the candidates won’t be there, go to the reception and/or attend the interviews Tuesday. The interviews begin at 9 a.m. that day.
The process allows for public involvement, but the Carson City Board of Supervisors will make the final decision after additional interviews later. The advisory committee, chaired by city Clerk/Recorder Alan Glover, can offer its impressions to the board and public, but it is the five-member governing board that will make the final selection and offer to the preferred candidate. That likely will come in early May.
The search is under way following City Manager Larry Werner’s retirement in December. The pay range for the top city government executive spot is $140,000 to $180,000 annually.
