The rancher who lost the cattle returned with Bruner and judged the pair could not be the thieves. It was with great difficulty that they could be kept from assaulting Bruner. He thought he had captured two horse thieves and $100 for sure.

In a man who was operated on in New York City an assortment of hardware was found — keys, pins, nails, pocket knives, bits of iron, etc. The surgeons could hardly credit the testimony of their own eyes. The patient is said to have a fair chance for recovery. For a year he has been exhibiting himself for money as the “human ostrich.”
