The nonprofit Warren Engine Co. No. 1 will hold a fundraiser today at the Nevada State Railroad Museum. Historic Virginia & Truckee Railroad steam locomotive No. 25 will operate train rides 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Monday. Hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and sodas will be served from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days at the train depot. Warren Engine Company items will be available for sale.

Mayor Bob Crowell will top the list of speakers at this year’s Memorial Day services at Lone Mountain Cemetery. The ceremony begins at 1 p.m. Monday. Cemetery manager Tim Glancy said since this is the 150th year of Nevada’s admission to the union, the Sons of Veterans of the Civil War will participate, including firing an old cannon. Robert Bledsoe, who organizes the annual event, will be master of ceremonies and play the bagpipes at the event, which also features an address by retired Navy Capt. David Treinen. Glancy said the event usually draws up to 300 but, with good weather, may see more participants this year.
