Elaine Epling died peacefully on October 20, 2014 in Carson City, NV at the age of 92 from complications of lung disease.Elaine is survived by her daughter, Constance Anderson of Carson City, NV, her grandchildren Demian Dennis (Rich Rekruciak) of Henderson, NV and Heather Miller (Shane) of Juneau, AK and her great-grandchildren Kyran Mollette, Keenan Miller, and Kennedy Miller, all of Juneau. She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence Epling and son James Epling. Elaine was born to Dean and Lucia Harrington on July 15, 1922 in Coeur d’Alene, ID. She was the first in her family to graduate from college, graduating from the University of Idaho in 1943. She married Clarence Epling the same year and was grateful to enjoy 53 ¦ years with the love of her life. She taught deaf and hard of hearing students in the Sacramento City Unified School District for 29 years. After retirement, she was active in the California Retired Teachers Association and Delta Kappa Gamma. She was a long-time member of the United Methodist Church. She lived in Sacramento for 61 years, happily moving to Carson City, NV to live with her daughter in 2004. Elaine was a kind and generous person who loved her family and had a special skill for staying positive. She believed in making each day productive. The San Francisco Giants were lucky to have her as one of their most loyal fans. She delighted in the activities of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was thrilled by their many accomplishments. Services will be private and inurnment will be at a later date at East Lawn Memorial Park, Sacramento, CA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be contributed to the California Retired Teachers Association (CRTA), State Capital Division Scholarship Fund, 800 Howe Avenue, Suite 370, Sacramento 95825.
