Law of land trumps Bible

An open letter to Rob Cobb Jr. —

Your analogies are ridiculous and the subject deserves no debate. How did your brain get from gay marriage to pedophiles and child rape?

I’ll say this for the millionth time — the law of this land trumps your Bible. The sooner you and your ilk realize this, the more peaceful this land will be. You cannot understand the 14th Amendment to the Constitution of this country.

But don’t worry. Even as the courts order the enforcement of laws, there are the “righteous” ones who will disobey those orders. You people are no better than the Southerners who wouldn’t let Americans ride a bus, sit down at a lunch counter, or go to a university. The force of law finally changed that, as it eventually will in all parts of this nation.

But, Mr. Cobb Jr., you still have time left.

As of now, the great states of Kansas, Montana and South Carolina are acting with great stupidity, and they would surely welcome more great thinkers such as yourself. I would suggest Montana. It’s closer.

Assault exams should be done in Carson

Since there has been a hospital in our community, victims of sexual assault have been able to count on receiving care during what may be the most traumatic experience of their lives. They have not been forced to drive themselves to Reno, often in the middle of the night, to receive an invasive examination in order to collect evidence of the assault.

It is an unfortunate statement about our community that our regional medical hospital, the same that boasts about its ability to perform open-heart surgery, is no longer capable of providing “a handful” of victims with the care they desperately need.

Though Carson City is the state capital, it appears it does not have the leadership necessary to find a solution that will allow our community to continue to care for its daughters, sons, sisters, mothers, and friends when they have been violated. Instead, we are expected to consider ourselves fortunate that Washoe County is willing to take the financial and medical burden for meeting the needs of the capital city’s most vulnerable citizens.

The next time you hear a commercial for Carson Tahoe Hospital touting how much they “care” about our community, remember it’s an advertisement.

Drop-off bin becoming an eye sore

I realize the Salvation Army does some wonderful things for the community and I applaud its work. It installed a drop-off bin a number of months ago, and it has become a dumping ground for all sorts of stuff. I saw an old refrigerator, three TVs, an old couch, some chairs, bags of whatever and assorted junk.

Early mornings and at night people rummage through this and cherry pick the good stuff. This should not be going on in a residential area. It has a store in north Carson where it should be accepting these “donations.” This has become a blight to our street and an eyesore to all who pass by. Please, clean up your act!

Animal shelter management had its chance

There’s a real good reason to shut down the pound. It was poorly run, and bad decisions were made. You have forgotten about one year ago, they put down a perfectly healthy dog because the dog got out and they asked the owner to pay $100 she didn’t have. So what did they do? Put the dog to sleep. That’s acting professional. Really? And where was her warning?

I don’t think they were thrown under the bus if they did, in fact, their job. It’s too bad they lost their jobs because of poor management. You can’t always get that dream job for caring for animals. Jobs are hard enough to find, and when you get a job, be lucky to have it.

In the old animal shelter, they used to euthanize mostly cats and I am not sure of dogs, but I am sure they did. They had no room, so that’s how they solved the problem. Did they or could they have held open adoptions? I vaguely remember hearing anything like that.

Is that really true 90 percent of animals that arrive are saved and only animals that have no quality of life or are considered dangerous are euthanized? If they’re a true animal lover, they would not feel that way and give the considered-dangerous ones a chance. I can’t believe they would say something so dumb; maybe you should investigate why it was handed over to the Nevada Humane Society.

God tells us there’s no need for same-sex marriage debate

Topic — same sex marriage. It’s not a constitutional right, and more importantly, it’s not a God-given right, either.

Genesis 1:27-28: “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the fowl of the air and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.’”

I say we appeal to the super Supreme Court. These people who believe they have a right to love whom they want are being deceived by the spirit of this fallen world, and it’s an Antichrist spirit, as are people who commit any sin.

There is no need for debate on the subject of same-sex marriage. It should be flat out denied to them because it’s an abomination to any nation and it will bring the nation that accepts it as normal to ruin.

Read your Bible, people. God’s not going to keep going in this ungodly direction much longer. I can already see signs of his judgement on this nation right now — the drought, fires, earthquakes, hirelings in or pulpits, the forsaking of God’s true word, all the violence breaking throughout the nation.

All you who love the truth had better stand up and come out of the closet of silence and let your voices be heard or you won’t have a free America much longer. Repent, America, and turn to God while you still can. No debate needed, just true repentance.
