The Yerington volleyball team wasn’t slowed by an injury to a key player on its way to rolling to the NIAA Division III Zone Championship on Saturday.
Yerington (34-2) rolled to a 25-13, 25-13, 25-13 win over North Tahoe in the semifinals then beat Incline Village 25-9, 25-21, 25-17 in the finals. Outside hitter Brianna Soukup sustained an injury in the third game against North Tahoe, but Yerington overcame the loss on its way to the title.
Against North Tahoe, Kassidy Lommori had 23 kills, eight digs, four blocks and three aces, Chloe Dane posted a double-double with 12 kills, 21 digs, three blocks and two assists, Jordan Bobrick had two kills and nine digs, Brianna Ramirez had four kills, five digs and four aces, Deseree Landa had seven digs and three aces, Ashley Rife had seven digs, three aces and 39 assists and Rachel Dane added five assists.
Against Incline, Lommori posted a double-double with 14 kills, 13 digs, one block and three aces, Chloe Dane had 13 kills, eight digs, three blocks and two aces, Landa had eight kills and two aces, Courtney Morose had four digs and four aces and Rife had two kills, three digs, two blocks and 30 assists.
