Gene Orville Homer, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and-great-great-grandfather passed away November 5, 2014. He enjoyed 83 memorable years with family and friends. Gene was born in Fernley, Nevada on December 10, 1939 to Herman and Addie Mae Homer. He graduated from Churchill County High School in 1949. After high school he joined the United States Air Force and served in the Korean War. While stationed in Sacramento, California he met and married his wife of 63 years, Ethel Mae Williams. Together they had four children, Michelle, Dan, Bruce and Susan Mae. Gene went into business in 1960 with Robert Pace and started P&H Auto Parts, which he owned for 30 years. He was an active member and retired from the Churchill County Volunteer Fire Department in 1984. Gene and Ethel were avid travelers visiting Europe, Jamaica, Tahiti, Caracas and the United States. They had a second home in Yuma, Arizona were they spent much of their retirement days. Gene was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Kenneth; sister, June; daughter, Susan Mae; son, Dan O and great-granddaughter, Caylee Addie Mae. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Ethel; brother, Sheldon (Thelma); daughter, Michelle (Milton), daughter-in-law, Susan; son, Bruce (Tami); grandchildren Amy; Milton (Jamie); Chad (Stacy); Jason (Jessica); Kori (Rafe); Tasia and Dax (Amanda); nineteen great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson. The family has chosen to have a private memorial. Gene’s ashes will join his son Dan O at their favorite hunting spot.
