A workshop to help veterans navigate the scholarship application process at Western Nevada College is set for Dec. 11, the college announced this week.

The two-hour workshop is being presented by the Veterans Resource Center. It will begin at 1 p.m. in the Cedar Building’s room 327 on that second Thursday in December. It will assist veterans in applying for WNC scholarships through the WNC Foundation Scholarship program as well as how to seek two $500 scholarships offered by the Vietnam Veterans of America.

“We’re putting on these vets-only workshops to make sure money isn’t being left on the table,” said Tim Galluzi, assistant supervisor at the resource center and an eight-year veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.

Veterans may reserve a spot in the workshop by calling (775) 445-3302 or by e-mail via wncveterans@gmail.com, according to Anne Hansen, director of WNC information and marketing services. The workshop is free.

Veterans who sign up to attend are encouraged to bring laptop computers to the workshop if they have them.
