Close of the public schools. Very wisely, we think, our school authorities have closed the Carson District School until after the holidays. Taking into consideration the prevalence among children of all ages of a very virulent type of scarlet fever, it is altogether best that the public schools should thus be temporarily closed.

Also applies here. The old story about the Legislature adjourning after 30 days’ session bobs up again. The discussion is a waste of breath and printer’s ink. Everybody knows that a member of the Legislature always holds the grip on the Treasury to the last moment permitted by law, and he would hold on like grim death if the law provided that the session was perpetual and his term for life.

Sheriff Lamb of Humboldt County arrived in this city yesterday with five prisoners consigned to Warden Dickerson, to whom they were delivered following the taking of Bertillon measurements at state police headquarters. Two are serving for highway robbery at Winnemucca. Two others are serving time for robbery. The third is in for burglary.

Bob “Buster” McClure, University of Nevada sophomore tackle and football captain, made the fourth string in the All-American Squad. This is the highest honor for a Wolf Pack player since the “Rabbit” Bradshaw days in the early 20s.

Barring a last minute switch, Southern Nevada will enjoy the most powerful assignments in its history in the upcoming session of the state legislature. The majority leaderships in the state Senate and Assembly are both slated to be awarded to Las Vegas for the first time in Nevada history.
