The Victorian era of Nevada’s capital city and its spooky history is explored and theatrically relived in the 22nd annual Carson City Ghost Walk, which offers tours every 30 minutes from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Oct. 18.
The spirit-led tours, which depart from the corner of Third and Curry streets behind the Firkin & Fox, offer a glimpse of lingering spirits of past centuries and haunted and paranormal stories through the downtown district’s west side historic homes and businesses, including Bliss Mansion, Brewery Arts Center, Ferris Mansion, Rinckel Mansion and the Governor’s Mansion.
This year’s event offers two tour paths.
The 90-minute Widow’s Walk features five home tours and the widows Margaret Ormsby, Mary Curry, Nellie Verrill, Mighels Davis, and Elizabeth Bliss. Tickets cost $15 in advance and $20 on the day of the event. Children younger than 3 participate for free.
A 50-minute “Mini” Waif Walk through the downtown is created especially for children and families to enjoy a shorter walking path. Costumes are encouraged, and there will be old-fashioned trick or treating and two home tours.
Advance tickets cost $9 and $7 for children 12 and younger. Tickets on the day of the event cost $12 and $9 for children 12 and younger.
Tours leave rain or shine, and attendees are asked to arrive at least 10 minutes before the walks begin.
The event also offers photo opportunities, tables, psychics and Ghost Walk merchandise for sale.
