Leon D. “Lee” May

Leon D. May (”Lee”), a loving husband, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 23rd, 2014, in his home surrounded by his loving wife, Pat, of 44 years, daughter Suzanne, and granddaughter Kristina. he was 78 and a 50 year resident of Carson City. Born September 29, 1935 in Ada, OK to Opal and ray May. Leon had a home filled with five other siblings, Velma Dickerson and Barbara Silva, as well as predeceased Juanita Cowen, Robert May, and Raymond May. He was a Korean war veteran who served in the Navy. His many tattoos commemorate his time overseas and has left a lasting impression on his family. Lee and Pat exchanged vows in Virginia City at the Silver Queen. He went on to own several service stations, convenience stores and bars in Carson City and Reno. He was always a sucker for a beautiful sunrise in Death Valley and a gorgeous sunset on the Oregon coast where he enjoyed camping and going crabbing. He enjoyed fishing and football. He was tickled by all the kittens Pat fostered and was a supporter of the SPCA. In lieu of flowers, his family encourages donations to the SPCA. he is now with his angels and his two children, Rickey and Tammy May. He will be remembered by his many other children, Kerry, Tonya, Bobby May, Michael Douglass, Carrie Anne Rula, Suzanne and Warren Anderson, Wendy Moore, and Christa Wendle. His grandchildren include Rhiannon and Fred Atherton, Nicky and Toni Douglass, Amber Ridley, Jessica and Landon, and Kirstina Starcevic. His great grandchildren are Asia Ridley, Kristina Floyd, River Mclaughlin, Britney Schulz, and Gemma Atheron and many nephews and nieces. Graveside serves will be on Sunday, October 26, 2014, at Walton’s Funeral Home in Carson City, in the gardens at the back of Walton’s. A Celebration of Life will be held immediately after. Lee was really fond of pie, please join his family at his Celebration of life and have a slice of pie with us. Directions to the sight will be handed out after the services.
