Ruth Peterson

Ruth Peterson was born Ruth Reed to parents Witt and Adella Reed in White Sulphur Springs, Montana on Sept. 16,1923. She passed away peacefully, in her sleep, at her home in Fallon, Nevada on Sept, 5, 2014. Ruth spent 9 decades on this Earth and cared for others throughout her life. Ruth survived two husbands, both of whom died after serious and lengthy illnesses. She married Les Chambers on Nov, 16, 1941 in Great Falls, Montana. They lived in White Sulphur Springs and had one son together, Gary. On Sept. 25,1959, Ruth married her second husband, Everett Peterson. They lived in Arlee, Montana and had one daughter together, Susan. Throughout her years, Ruth worked hard as a hairdresser, store clerk, cook, and library aid. She moved to Fallon in 1998 to care for her grandchildren while her daughter finished college and began a career. Ruth didn’t care much for hunting, but she loved to fish. She also loved to garden. She liked to travel and spent as much time doing so as possible. In Ruth’s senior years, her social life revolved around the Churchill County Senior Center. She attended exercise class there 3 days a week and stayed for lunch afterward. Ruth enjoyed her friends and always had lots of news to report about them. She also enjoyed the lunches and the CART rides to and from the center. Ruth was active in her church, Oasis Community Church, and rarely missed a Sunday. One of 7 children, she is survived by her sister, Della Causey; brother, Don Reed; son, Gary Chambers and wife Donna, daughter, Susan Marsh and husband Mike. She will be missed by her grandchildren, Guy Chambers; Laurel Haskins; Libby Newman; Cody Marsh and Kade Marsh an great-grandchildren. Services will be held on Sunday, September 14, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Oasis Community Church 1520 S. Maine St. Fallon, NV. The family wishes that donations be made to the Senior Center in Ruth’s memory.
