RENO — A 42-year-old California man who federal prosecutors say was the ring-leader of a methamphetamine trafficking operation in northern Nevada has been sentenced to more than 19 years in prison.
Judge Larry Hicks also ordered 42-year-old Rosendo Salgado of Mountclair to five years’ probation upon his release during Monday’s sentencing in federal court in Reno.
Daniel Bogden, U.S. attorney for Nevada, says Salgado sold large amounts of nearly pure meth in a conspiracy using lower-ranking members to make hand-to-hand sales in the Reno area. He says Salgado ran the operation from his Southern California home and used coded language to track sales.
Federal agents obtained a wiretap in January 2013 and arrested him five months later after they served a search warrant at a Reno home where the drugs were delivered.
