Nevadans can ring in the state’s Sesquicentennial with the limited-edition Collectabell, available now at the Carson City Visitors Bureau.
The pewter bell features the NV 150 Sesquicentennial logo on one side and the Battle Born logo on the other.
The first bell went to Gov. Brian Sandoval and the second to Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki. The 150th bell — in honor of the state’s 150th birthday — will be raffled off over Nevada Day weekend.
Joel Dunn, executive director of the Carson City Visitors Bureau, said he thought of the idea for the whimsical keepsake from his grandmother Wilma, who grew up in Ruth and lived most of her adult life in Carson City.
“She always gave out handmade bells to the grandkids for Christmas,” he said. “It was a tribute to my grandmother and a bygone time.”
At $20, it’s also a good deal.
“Some of these collectibles can be quite expensive,” he said. “This is an affordable keepsake.”
However, with only 150 bells made, they are likely to sell out quickly.
To sign up for the raffle, go to the Carson City Visitors Bureau, 716 N. Carson St., during business hours Nov. 1 or 2.
A person will get one entry for signing up for the bureau’s newsletter and an additional entry for downloading the Visit Carson City app on any smart device.
The store will be open 8-10 a.m. Nov. 1 and after the parade until 6 p.m. It will be open 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. The drawing will be at close of business Sunday. The winner need not be present.
