Nine registered sex offenders in Douglas County were found out of compliance during a check conducted last week by the sheriff’s office and the U.S. Marshal’s Service.
Sheriff’s Spokesman Sgt. Pat Brooks said of the 134 registered sex offenders living in the county, 115 were found to be in compliance.
Ten sex offenders were either in prison, dead or had been deported.
Brooks said the remaining offenders are under investigation to determine if they should be prosecuted.
Anyone convicted as a sex offender is required to register with local law enforcement and keep their registration current.
