Soroptimist International of Carson City, Carson Tahoe Health and Tahoe Carson Radiology in association with the Capital Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Carson City Library Foundation are holding the 13th Annual Stroke to Help golf tournament on Sept. 27 at Eagle Valley Golf Course.
The Breast Cancer Project is Soroptimist International of Carson City’s identifying project which provides mammograms and biopsies for women unable to afford the cost of these procedures. Over 1,465 mammograms have been performed and 32 biopsies have helped 1,285 women since the inception of the program. Carson Tahoe Health and Tahoe Carson Radiology have provided services by controlling costs for these procedures.
This year’s event offers two courses. The west course will be reserved for golfers using handicaps and playing their own ball, no mulligans, with two-player best ball, and the east course will be available for those who want to use putting tape and mulligans. Soroptimists will be available to sell various lengths of tape.
Raffle tickets are available for a variety of gifts and contests such as closest to the line, longest drive and closest to the pin. A hole-in-one on each of the courses could give a participant a new car from Michael Hohl GM and Carson City Toyota-Scion. Winners on each course will receive rounds of golf at various local courses as well as a golf lesson for the loser.
Check-in will be at 8 a.m. with a healthy continental breakfast. The shotgun start will be at 9 a.m.
The $95 cost covers a round of golf on either the east or west course with a golf cart, a goodie bag sponsored by local merchants, raffle tickets and entry into the contests and ending with a late luncheon, provided by Eagle Valley Golf Course, of chicken and tri-tip barbecue with baked beans, potato salad, green salad and desert.
