“My little girl of 11 years of age has the following studies: reading, writing, written arithmetic, mental arithmetic, spelling, geography, history, grammar, physiology, with occasional compositions, the learning of quotations by heart, and poetic and other recitations that come later ...” She studies three to four hours every evening after school. This is too much for a child of 11. This course is required by the State Board of Education.”

Signed,

A Mother.
