Cheers & Kudos: Volunteers help Eagle Scout project at Sierra Lutheran High School

Last month, 15 scouts and parents from Boy Scout Troop 33 came together at Sierra Lutheran High School to help me complete a service project for my rank of Eagle Scout.

We laid down more than 15 yards of gravel by hand to prevent water erosion and to make a beautiful looking landscape. The remaining three yards of gravel were moved by my generous neighbor and his tractor. Trees were planted, a dozen bushes were transplanted, and picnic tables were removed from the parking lot and placed in the new lunch area.

I’d like to say thank you to each volunteer for their hard work, despite the heat that day.

The project was made possible by donations and support from Cinderlite Trucking and Greenhouse Garden Center. Their generosity made it happen!

Thank you to Howard Houghton, facilities manager at Sierra Lutheran, for helping me coordinate the project, to David Amatore, my neighbor with the awesome tractor, and to Troop 33 leaders Dan Webster and Lynn Tooker for numerous hours of advice.
