Prep roundup: Carson girls tennis falls to Reno

Northern Nevada power Reno High rolled to a 15-3 win over Carson High in girls tennis on Friday in Reno.

Preeta Amin won in singles for Carson (3-5) 6-1 while losing to the Huskies’ top two players 0-6, 0-6.

Reno’s No. 2 player has lost just once this season. The Senators’ other two wins came in doubles as Anna Glenn and Saraha Winder won 7-6 (7-2) against Reno’s No. 2 team and Amanda Breen and Emma Breeding won 6-4. Carson was up in two other matches 5-4 before falling.

Reno improved to 9-0.

Carson will play at Reed on Monday in a match Senator coach Diane Baker-Roberts said her team will likely need to win to make the playoffs.


SOCCER

Carson visits Damonte Ranch

Carson High’s soccer teams travel to South Reno to face Damonte Ranch today in a Sierra League match-up.

The boys, led by Ryan Galvan’s eight goals and two assists, play at 11 a.m.

The girls (3-0-2) have yet to allow a score this season. Chantal Torres leads the offense with five goals. That game will start at 1 p.m.


VOLLEYBALL

Yerington 3, North Tahoe 0

Yerington (23-1, 4-0) continued to roll in a 25-12, 25-15, 25-12 win. Chloe Dane had 11 kills, seven digs, two blocks and four aces, Jordan Bobrick had seven digs, Kassidy Lommori had eight kills, 12 digs and two blocks, Brianna Ramirez had eight digs, Ashley Rife had five digs and 20 assists and Rachel Dane added five assists for the Lions.

Douglas sweeps Hug

MINDEN — The Tigers, behind the play of Talyn Jackson, rolled to an easy 25-10, 25-9 and 25-15 win over Hug Thursday nightin a crossover match.

Jackson had 10 service points, 14 assists and three digs. Raychel Allen had eight digs, Emma Sperry 10 assists, Sophie Byrne had three kills and Isabella Peterson had two kills.

SIGNUPS

Carson holds sign-ups on Oct. 13

Carson High School will hold its annual sign-up event for winter sports on Oct. 13 at 5:30 p.m. in the school library.

Those people who haven’t signed up through the parent portal must do so prior to turning in their sport packet, or complete the sports packup the night of the sign-up. Sports packets will not be given out at school.

All athletes that have turned in their packet must complete a returning athlete form and be cleared through the library and finance office prior to turning in the sports packet.

The deadline for sign-ups is Nov. 5. Eligibility will be based on the Oct. 17 first-quarter grading period. See Kathy Taylor in the athletic office for more information.
