Eagle Valley Middle School wrestlers walked away with three first-place awards at last weekend’s TahNeva Championships in Fallon.
Eli Thomas (70 pounds), Casanova Segura (90) and David Remer (125), all seventh graders walked away with championship trophies.
Zach Remer (75) took second, while Damion Branco (80), Johnny Lopez (110), Connor Lampert (125) and Christian Stone (165) all placed third. Ivan Villegas (95) and Samuel Bean (125) placed fourth.
Jared Meyer (120) and Blake Menzel (150) placed second in the eighth-grade tournament. Trevor Peck (90), Buddy McDonald (115), Zach Bumbry (125), John Rupert (160) and Carl Cavner (heavyweight) all placed third. Austin Wallace (160) took fourth.
Reid quaLifies for REGIONALS
Lily Reid placed second in the floor routine at last week’s Nevada State Championships at the Grand Sierra Resort.
Reid finished in the top 12 in Level 7 to qualify for the regional tournament May 1-3 in Long Beach.
In Level 3, Eliana Hollar was first on bars and beam and second on floor en route to a second place in all around in the Junior F Division.
In Senior A competition, Eviana McGowan won bars and places third on floor en route to third place all around. In Senior B Division, Nicole Hawkins won vault.
In Level 6, Elle Liebendorfer was first on beam and second on bars en route to placing second in the Child Division. In Junior A, Alycia Hellwinkel was first on beam, second on bars, third on floor and second in all around. Emma Habaradas was second on beam and floor, and third on bars en route to third in the all around. Madison Adams was third on vault and beam. The Level 6 squad placed second as a team.
Willis quartet triumphs
The team of Robey Willis, Duane Carroll, Geoff Swann and Dennis Justin combined to shoot a 46 in the scramble event to win A flight for the Empire Ranch Senior Men’s Club. The event was held at Dayton Valley Golf Club.
Tony Barbaria, Bob Warzynski, Terry Thomas and Kurt Cleek were second at 49. In B flight, Dan Rogers, Clark Reid, Marty Martinez and Bob Plut won with a 46. Greg Bentley, Albert Giannotti, Donnie Curd and Don Wilson were a stroke back at 47.
Silver Oak is back to 7 days a week
Silver Oak Golf Course is re-opening its doors seven days a week starting today. During the winter season, the course had been closed on Wednesdays for maintenance.
To celebrate the event, Silver Oak is offering $25 greens fees every Wednesday through the month of April.

Patterson triumphs at CVGC Stableford event
Dennis Patterson scored a 16 to win the A flight at the Carson Valley Men’s Club event at Carson Valley Golf Club on March 29.
Dan Essary was second at 13 and Marc Menezes had 7.
In the B flight, Gary Schreiber had 15 points and Roger Hala had 10. In the C flight, Robert Van Nort had 17 and Neil Bain had 15.
Pumas Elite win Reno tournament
The Carson Futbol Club’s U-15 Pumas Elite won the Sagebrush Spring Start-Up Tournament over the weekend.
Alejandro Gonzalez and Rogelio Herrera each scored a goal in the title game, as the locals knocked off the Arsenal Knight, 2-0.
Members of the team are Danny Manzo, Christian Martinez, Brandon Estrada, Alejandro Gonzalez, Ernesto Lamas, Guillermo Hernandez, Guillermo Perez-Morris, Lex Merrifield, Isa Lopez, Julio Loera, Rogelio Herrera, Raul Lopez, Efren Ramirez Jr, Angel Gonzalez, Javier Vega and Adrian Torres.
