Brian Crane, also known as “Mr. Pickles,” a nationally recognized syndicated cartoonist, will talk about the inspiration for his cartoon strip, “Pickles,” at Carson City Leisure Hour Club’s next meeting on Wednesday, April 15.
Crane joins the Leisure Hour Club members close to the 25th anniversary of the comic strip, which debuted in April, 1990. His presentation will provide a glimpse into how he creates “Pickles,” how he got started, and where he gets ideas for the nationally recognized strip.
“Pickles” is a daily comic strip featuring Earl and Opal Pickles, who have been married for more than 50 years.
Pickles tops comics polls across the nation again and again, and it appears in more than 900 newspapers around the world, including the Nevada Appeal.
Copies of Crane’s books titled “How Come I Always Get Blamed for the Things I Do?” and “Oh, Sure, Blame It on the Dog,” will be available for purchase. They are both collections of some of his favorite strips from the past. He has agreed to sign and sketch a personal message in any of the books, available for $15 and $16.
To attend the event, call Dorothy Link at 775-885-2542 no later than today to make a reservation. The meeting is preceded by a buffet dinner at 6:30 p.m. in the Carson Nugget’s Capitol Ballroom. Reservations for dinner are required.
