Silver City has organized a Fire Department with 26 enrolled names for a starter. There are a number of Babcock’s fire extinguishers in that place, and they will be put in good order and distributed around town. They ought to have a steam-fire engine.

Miss Clapp’s dog, Brutus, one of the largest dogs in the state and probably the most savage, was poisoned yesterday and thrown over the fence. The dog died in a few hours. Some years ago Brutus was matched in this city to fight a grizzly bear, and got his picture in the Police Gazette.
