Donald Garcia, 85, passed away on April 4th in Gardnerville, NV after a long illness. He grew up in Duarte, CA. and started his construction business in early 1950. In 1960 Don sold his business and moved to Lake Arrowhead, CA where he worked for Lake Arrowhead Development Company until he moved to South Lake Tahoe in 1968. He owned and operated Don Garcia Excavating & Paving since 1973 with his wife Donna until his retirement. But he never lost the love for construction projects and a chance to operate heavy equipment and drive large trucks. Due to health reasons he moved to Gardnerville, NV the summer of 2009. Don enjoyed spending the winter months fishing and relaxing in Mulege, B.C.S. Mexico. Don served in the United States Army and was a Veteran of the Korean War. Don is survived by his wife Donna of 64 years and their children, Ric Garcia (Bonnie), Teri Byers, Mike Garcia and Lisa Schenzel (Mark). He was preceded in death by his daughter, Anna. Don had numerous grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren. A celebration honoring Don’s life will be held at the Carson Valley Inn (Valley Ball Room), on Sunday, April 26th at 11:30. Don always loved a good party. Please dress casually and bring your good memories to help give him what he hoped for, a happy, joyous party with his friends and family. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity
