A 62-year-old Dayton man died Thursday from injuries sustained during a motorcycle accident Saturday on State Route 341.
The Nevada Highway Patrol reports at 10:40 a.m. last Saturday troopers were dispatched to a two motorcycle serious injury accident that occurred on State Route 341 near Storey County, mile marker 7 — approximately 3 miles north of Virginia City.
The preliminary crash investigation details indicate a 2012 white KTM Racer motorcycle ridden by 47-year-old Sean M. Labrie of Sparks was traveling southbound on SR 341 and for unknown reasons he failed to negotiate a curve and crossed into the northbound lane and struck a 2009 white Aprilla motorcycle head on that was traveling northbound ridden by Kevin Mcintire, 62, of Dayton.
Mcintire was transported to Renown Regional Medical Center by Care Flight with serious life threatening injuries, where he died Thursday from his injuries. Labrie was transported to Renown by Storey County Fire with serious injuries. Labrie is still in serious condition at Renown. Alcohol or drugs are not a factor in the cause of this accident.
Both the north and southbound travel lanes where shut down for several hours while the accident scene was investigated and diagrammed. However, traffic was being diverted around the accident scene by NDOT traffic control. This area is one lane in each direction and the speed limit is 45 mph. Trooper Chris Kelly of the Nevada Highway Patrol’s Multi-Disciplinary Investigation and Reconstruction Team (MIRT) is investigating this incident.
