Southbound lanes of I-580 will be reduced Tuesday for a Nevada Department of Transportation project to repair a digital freeway message sign.
Work will take place from approximately 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. During that time, southbound travel lanes will be reduced to one lane near the Bowers Mansion area, right before exit 50, Alternate 395/Bowers Mansion Road. Northbound lanes will not be impacted.
The digital message sign has been displaying messages properly. Daktronics, the maker of the digital sign, will inspect and make repairs to a door panel on the walkway connecting the digital sign face and electronics panel.
Approximately 30,000 vehicles travel through the area daily. NDOT has more than 200 message signs on state roads across Nevada to provide updated freeway conditions and other important alerts.
