As an adult he pursued his passion and became a timber-faller working in Oregon, Idaho, Washington and Alaska for 20 years then began driving trucks.

William T. Byrnes, Jr.

Bill Byrnes, age 73, died in his home in Dayton, Nevada on Sunday, August 23, 2015 after medical complications. Bill was born in San Francisco in 1941 and educated at Riordan High School. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree at University of Nevada, Reno and his Master’s Degree at Northern Arizona University. Frederick Bracey Fitts Sr., 79, passed away peacefully Wednesday July 8, 2015 at Carson-Tahoe Hospital. Originally a native of Dalton, Georgia, Fred was the son of Pryor and Ann Bracey Fitts. He moved to Nevada in 1967 and has resided in Dayton for the last 15 years. Fred graduated from high school in Chickamauga, Georgia. He attended North Georgia College in Dahlonega, Georgia before his appointment to the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York.

On June 29, 2015 Tommy passed away at his home in Dayton after a long illness. Tommy was born in Reno; Nevada to Ouzel & Doris Locke and spent most of is youth in Imlay & Lovelock, Nevada. Tommy graduated from Pershing County High School in 1964 were he loved playing football & being outdoors.

William H. “Bill” Kappus

William H. “Bill” Kappus, also known as “Henry” in his youth, passed away peacefully in a Reno hospital on July 3, 2015 with several friends at his bedside. Bill, 75, was born in 1939, in Oklahoma to Laurence and Mildred Kappus. He attended El Reno High School and graduated with a civil engineering degree from Oklahoma State University.

Harold Nelson

Harold Nelson passed away peacefully at his home in Carson City, Nev. at age 95. His entrepreneurial spirit - forged during the Great Depression with a newspaper route - motivated him and inspired others throughout his life. A WWII Navy veteran who served on the USS Clytie, Harold was a gifted engineer and inventor with an insatiable curiosity and a love of travel.

Betty Bensinger

Betty Bensinger, a 51 year resident of Carson City, passed away at home on July 11th. Betty was very involved in her children’s lives. She spent four years as a Cub Scout den mother, 3 years as a Brownie Scout leader and taught craft classes for the San Fernando Boy Scout Council in California prior to moving to Nevada.

Frances Yvonne (Richardson) Saunders “Vonnie”

On July 7th, 2015, Frances Yvonne (Richardson) Saunders, “Vonnie” age 60, of Carson City, NV, was surrounded by her family in her home, as she moved from this life onto her next great adventure. Vonnie was born on November 24th, 1954, in Oroville, CA. She later moved and spent several very happy years in Brownsville, OR, on the family cattle ranch. Vonnie graduated High School in Carson City, NV. In 1972, and was the first ever woman recipient of Athlete of the year for Carson High School.

Mark Allen Pimley

Mark went to be with the Lord in June of 2015. Mark was born to Percy and Helen Seidel Pimley in Montana in 1957. He moved with his family to Nevada in 1964. After living in Carson City for 2 years, they then moved to Minden where he would eventually build his own home.

Richard Earl “Dick” Baker passed away peacefully at Brighton Convalescent home in Pasadena, CA on August 4, 2015. He was born the beloved only child to Ralph & Isla Baker in Portland, OR on October 8, 1931. He grew up in Portland, OR as well as Yakima, WA. He graduated from Yakima High School and went on to graduate from Washing State University with a degree in Architectural Engineering in 1954.

It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of our loving mother. After a long illness, Mom passed away peacefully at her home in Carson City with her daughter at her bedside. Mom was born in Napier, TN to George W. Scott and Cora Ferguson Scott. She was the youngest of 10 children, and was predeceased by her parents, sisters Margaret Spann and Annie Mae Coley, and six brothers, Alec, Arch, George, Roy, Lloyd and Claude. Mom was a joyful, thoughtful, kind and caring person that was always therefor her family and friends. She could brighten the darkest day.

Passed gently on August 1, 2015. He was born in England on June 30, 1923. He served in the RAF (Royal Air Force) in England and joined the US Air Force when he came to the US. Pop retired after 30 years of Security/Law enforcement work at McClellan Air Force Base in Sacramento.

Eric died on July 15, 2015 after a long battle with heart disease. He was born on March 27, 1932 in Rochester, NY. Eric was raised and educated in Fairport, NY and graduated from Cornell University in 1954. He completed post graduate work at Syracuse in Recreational Landscaping.
