Michael D. Sherlock was appointed executive director of the Nevada Commission on Peace Officers’ Standards and Training, or POST, the regulatory agency for law enforcement training throughout the state.
Sherlock has more than 30 years of law enforcement experience serving in Nevada and California where he served as canine officer, field training officer, detective and commander.
After graduating from Yerington High School in 1981, Sherlock began his law enforcement career as a deputy sheriff with Lyon County. In 2004, he graduated with a Juris Doctor degree from Lincoln Law School of Sacramento.
Sherlock is a Nevada POST certified, Category I, peace officer and has been a member of the POST staff since 2010 serving as a training specialist and the supervisor of audits and compliance. He has served as a part-time peace officer with the Legislative Counsel Bureau as well as teaching part-time as adjunct faculty at Western Nevada College.
