The Apaches have smoke signals by day and fire beacons by night, and systems of telegraphy understood only by themselves. The displacement and overturning of a few stones on a trail, or a bent or broken twig, is a note of warning like the bugle-call to disciplined troops. The many crosses dotting the roadsides of Arizona and New Mexico mark the graves of murdered men ... they will cover themselves with fresh grass, and lying motionless, appear as a natural portion of the field.

First of all, pave the streets. Would you increase the value of your town property if you could? Its easy to do and worth doing. Get busy, on it; clean it up; repair and paint up; grade your grounds if they need it; keep your walks in good condition and add new ones where required; cut the weeds and keep them down.

The Carson Hot Springs was the scene of the semi-annual district convention of the 20-30 clubs Sunday. Clubs from Reno, Winnemucca, Yerington, Fallon, Carson Valley and Carson City were represented. The business meeting held following breakfast Sunday was presided over by District Governor Don Block of Minden.

The Nevada State Heritage Association launched another phase of its plan for the eventual restoration of the V & T Railroad when it concluded negotiations with the Carson 20-30 club for restoration of a V&T car. The club will restore the car to its original condition and in return will be allowed to use the car as a meeting place.
