The 2015 Carson Tennis Club Fall Classic is set for Sept. 11-13 at the Centennial Park Tennis Complex.
There will be men’s singles, men’s doubles, mixed doubles and parent-child doubles. Also scheduled are women’s singles and women’s doubles. Youth singles also is being offered.
The cost is $30 for singles CTC members playing singles and $35 for non-members. Under 18 players the cost is $25 for singles and $20 per player in doubles. For CTC members, doubles is $25 per person and non-members pay $30 apiece for doubles.
Entries are due by Sept. 9.

Beggs quartet wins
at Thunder Canyon
The team of Teresa Beggs, Jean Driver, Tricia Rebuck and Carol Colwell shot 237 to win Thunder Canyon Country Club’s Out of Their World Safari Ladies Invitational Aug. 7-8.
Cindy Hannah, Patti Davin, Donna Ward and Nancy Fackelman shot 243 and Barbara Plymell, Sheri Barainca, Rachel Tupper and Elaine Reszke were third at 244.
Joann Sheerin, Virginia Bonar, Kathy Dunn and Kim Boykin were fourth at 249.
Camp, Prutch win titles
at Silver Oak
Wes Camp and Dennis Prutch were flight winners at Silver Oak Men’s Club Stableford Tornament July 26,
Camp won Flight 1 with 34 points, four ahead of Charles Spencer. Craig Luce and Dan Wilson tied for third with 28 point each. Andy Bohm was fifth with 26. Prutch won Flight 2 with 40, four ahead of Bill Whitstone. Philip Evich was third with 26, while Kelly Pingel, Shawn Akers and Rick Crawford tied for fourth with 24.
• Tim Hines won Flight 1 at the recent Monthly Masters event at Silver Oak. His net 63 was three strokes better than Osu Kwon and four better than Bret Lowrey and John Owens.
Frank Turek, Shane McInnerny and Shawn Akers tied for the Flight 2 title with 67s. Alex Dawers, Eric Moorman and Steve Hinckley tied for fourth with 69s.
Collins, Wilde win
Dayton tournament
Jim Collins and Rich Wilde eked out a victory by the narrowest margin in club history in the Dayton Valley Palmer Club two-man net Chapman Scotch tournament played Aug 1.
Collins and Wilde shot a net 69.15 to edge Dave Barnes and Jim Crawford by 5/100ths of a stroke at 69.20. Ronnie Hansen and Don Robertson also narrowly missed and finished in third at 69.65.
Fourth place went to Doug Dougherty and Steve Fierro at 70.25 and Ryan Blaver and Rankin Lynn finished fifth with 70.85. Also in the money were Jeff Miller and Bob Frazee in sixth with 71.0, Marco DiGiacinto and Chris Schreiner seventh at 72.35 and Ray Benefiel and Frank Holzhauer took eighth place at 72.40.
Schreiber wins top
flight at Carson Valley
Jeff Schreiber shot a net 69 to win Carson Valley Men’s Club stroke play event on Aug. 9.
Joe Bourgeois was second with a 75 and Dan Essary shot 77 for third. In Flight B, Augie Martinez won with a 67, three shots better than Roger Hala and seven better than Charlie Poe. Bruce Sanford won Flight C with a 69, two strokes better than Gary Carsten and three better than Brent Holderman. Neil Bain won Flight D in a tiebreaker over Jack Zippwald. Both shot 66s. Jim Arens was third with a 67.
Football boosters dinner
set for Aug. 22
The annual Carson High Football Boosters dinner is set for Aug. 22 at Marv Texeira Pavilion at 6:30 p.m.
The cost is $25 per ticket, and all proceeds go to support the football program.
The newest members of the CHS Hall of Fame will be announced at the dinner.
