The Nevada Public Utilities Commission has rejected requests from the rooftop solar industry to keep status quo policies in place even after a state cap is reached.
The Las Vegas Sun reports the commission voted 3-0 on Wednesday against the petition in spite of hours of testimony from solar industry workers.
Lawmakers passed a compromise bill this spring calling the commission to decide by the end of the year on new rates and rules for net metering, which involves homeowners selling NV Energy any excess power produced from solar panels at their homes.
But solar advocates say Nevada will hit a cap before permanent rules are in place.
