Monday is the deadline for the first installment on property tax payments, according to Carson City’s offices of assessor and treasurer.
The reminder included information on the city’s tax website address and gave the four installment dates: Monday for the initial installment, with the second installment due Oct. 5, the third on Jan. 4, 2016 and the fourth on March 7, 2016. The website for additional information is at www.carson.org/taxes.
Assessor Dave Dawley said the office of Treasurer Gayle Robertson handles the collections. He and Beth Huck, chief deputy city treasurer, said the initial tax payments are due at the close of business by 5 p.m. on Monday, but there is a 10-day grace period before penalties kick in. Those penalties are 4 percent on real property structures and 10 percent on personal property mobile homes.
People may pay the first installment or the entire bill, according to Huck, and do it at the treasurer’s office or online. The website is where they also can review tax history data and sign up for tax e-alert information.
“If you have a lender who pays your taxes, this information has been provided to them,” according to a handout provided by Huck at the treasurer’s office. It added: “Please keep your tax bill for your permanent record.”
