Mildred “Millie” Delich, 97, passed away July 20, 2015. She was born in Garrison, Utah on Feb. 23, 1918, to Charles and Alice Thompson. She was raised and educated in Ely, Nev., where she met and married George Delich in December 1937 in Las Vegas, Nev. She had one son, George Duncan Delich. She lived most of her life in Carson City, Nev. She worked as a secretary for Nevada Department of Transportation for 23 years. After retiring she traveled the world, with Hawaii being her favorite spot. She loved to travel and meet new people. She never met a stranger. Millie loved music of all kinds and really loved to dance every chance she got. She joined a group that put on several dances a week which she always attended. She loved getting her hair done and prettied up to go dancing. Millie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George, her beloved grandson Aaron M. Delich, brothers Burt Thompson and V. Thompson, sister Verna Nellie and niece Kay, nephew Donnie Harwood, and niece Ann McCarty. She is survived by her son George (Marlene) of Cody, Wyo. And numerous nieces and nephews including special niece Sue Everson and a special friend, Jane Delich. Millie moved to Cody, Wyo., in 2004 to be near her son George. She spent the first nine years living at Absaroka Assisted Living in Cody. Later she moved to West Park Hospital Long Term Care where she passed away. Mom always took very good care of her in-laws, taking them shopping and to doctor appointments as they never learned to drive a car. She did a lot of great and generous things for a lot of people, giving her time and energy where needed. Mom always remembered birthdays, Christmas or any special occasion. She grew the most beautiful roses, delicious tomatoes and cantaloupe. She loved flowers. Funeral services were held on July 27th at Ballard Funeral Home. Burial will take place at a later date at Lone Mountain Cemetery in Carson City, Nev. Millie will be acknowledged at the Presbyterian Church at 115 N. Division St on August 2nd.
