The Silver Dollar Regional, a gathering in conjunction with the National Association of Watch & Clock Collectors, is this weekend in Sparks with the public admitted on Sunday.
Tom Bartels of Gardnerville, a horologist who does antique clock repair, restoration and appraisal, said public entry is just $5 or free with a postcard-sized admission available for Sunday’s sale of antique clocks and watches on the second floor pavilion of the Nugget Hotel and Casino in Sparks. The admission postcard is available through Craigslist or from him at the show.
The event for collectors begins Friday evening with pre-registration and hospitality events, continues Saturday and Sunday with the mart opening to the public at 10 a.m. on that final day. Bartels said there also would be short tours and lectures Sunday. He said there would be 200 tables featuring clocks and watches.
He said the 75-year-old watch and clock collectors organization, of which he’s vice chairman, has 17,000 members in 30 countries worldwide.
