SPARKS — Carson High’s girls tennis squad opened the season with a 14-4 win over Spanish Springs in a Division I match Thursday afternoon.
The doubles tandem of Amanda Schulz and Mikaela Asby went 3-0, the only CHS players to win three sets.
Elise Brady and Heather Lamotte were 2-0 as were Emily McCaskill and Nancy Henrickson.
Anya Woodbury went 2-0 in singles, while Emma Breeding and Shaylin Segura went 2-1 in singles.
Carson hosts Damonte Ranch next Tuesday at 3 p.m.
CHS boys lose 10-8
in season debut
Taylor Saarem and Ryan Tomita each went 3-0, but the rest of the Senators did little else in a 10-8 home loss to Spanish Springs Thursday afternoon.
Saarem dropped just four games all day while Tomita lost six.
Nico Salm and Danny Dudley went 1-1, while Zach Simms and Jayson Artz also went 1-1.
Carson visits Damonte Ranch on Tuesday.

Carson, Dayton squads
start ‘15 season today
Carson and Dayton volleyball squads open their seasons today in different parts of the state.
Carson plays in the annual Las Vegas Invitational, while Dayton is at the annual Yerington Invitational.

Season starts today
at Lampe Park
Carson and Dayton cross-country squads travel to Gardnerville today to compete in the annual Class Races Invite hosted by Douglas High School.
Action gets under way at 3 p.m.
Runners will compete in their own class.
SOCCER
Dayton boys open
season at Douglas
Dayton High’s boys soccer team is competing in the Douglas JV Tournament which gets under way today.
Dayton will face Hug JV in its opening match at 5:30 p.m..
On Saturday, the Dayton boys will play North Valleys JV at 9 a.m. and Douglas at noon. The first-place teams in each pool will play for the title at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
• The Dayton girls start their season Saturday at the one-day Hug Tournament.
Tigers tie opener
Douglas and North Tahoe battled to a scoreless tie in the opener for both schools Thursday.
Luke Heinricks played well in goal, while Edgar Hernandez, Micah Miller and Chris Mckinney played well defensively.
Douglas’ JV team won 4-2.
