RENO — A Reno church is reporting vandalism to a sign outside its building that could be racially motivated.
The Rev. Neal Anderson told KRNV-TV Thursday the “Black Lives Matter” sign was targeted at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Northern Nevada on Del Monte Lane on the south end of town.
Anderson says the word “Black” was replaced by the word “White” in red spray paint. He says the vandalism occurred sometime between 5 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. Thursday. He says the church is in the process of filing a police report.
“Black Lives Matter” is the name of a national civil rights movement sparked in part by shootings of black men by white police officers.
