Country Christmas Craft Fair, an event offering holiday shopping, raffles, crafts and goody bags, will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Stagecoach Community Center, 8200 Highway 50 E., Stagecoach. Live music by Joseph Greco will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. All proceeds go to Crystal Pacheco, a Carson woman injured in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 50 in September.

The Virginia & Truckee Railroad is hosting three weekends of holiday trains Saturday and Sunday and Dec. 12-13. Trains depart at noon and 2 p.m. from Virginia City’s F Street Station. The rides offer hot chocolate, cider, cookies and candy canes and a reading of the poem “Night Before Christmas” and other activities. Wild Horse Children’s Theater is putting on the holiday musical “Babes in Toyland” at 7 p.m. on Fridays; at 2 and 7 p.m. Saturdays and at 2 p.m. Sundays, Dec. 4-13, in the Brewery Arts Center’s Performance Hall. Caroling by Carson City School District fifth graders will be featured at the Carson City Silver and Snowflakes Festival of Lights at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the Capitol Building. Entertainment and a Christmas fair will follow at Telegraph Street.

Indian tacos and nearly 50 vendors will be on hand at a Christmas craft faire from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday in the gymnasium of Carson Colony, 2900 S. Curry St.

Local vendors will showcase their handcrafted items in Carson Lanes’ Winter Craft Fair from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free. Carson Lanes is at 4600 Snyder Ave. Call 775-883-2606.

Santa Trains will run every 30 minutes from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and Dec. 12, 13, 19 and 20 at the Nevada State Railroad Museum, 2180 S. Carson St. Santa will be on hand, and Warren Engine Company will sell refreshments. Tickets cost $5 per person; children under 3 who sit in an adult’s lap ride for free. St. Hugh of Lincoln Episcopal Outreach Center, 4280 Highway 50 E. in Silver Springs, is hosting its annual Christmas Craft Faire from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Raffle tickets for a dinner package for eight will be sold for $2 each or $5 for three. Call 775-577-9606.

Pets can have their photos taken with Santa from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, when Carson Animal Services Initiative hosts its pictures with Santa event at Benson’s Feed and Tack, 2750 Highway 50. High Sierra Swing Dance Club’s Christmas dance party is Saturday in the Brewery Arts Center’s Grand Ballroom. A members appreciation dinner catered by Mitch Tufts is at 6:30 p.m. Dinner is $10, but join the club that night, and dinner and dance are free. The Carson City Senior Center’s Moonlight & Mistletoe, a Christmas dinner of Cornish game hen, wild rice, vegetables, rolls and dessert, is Saturday in the Sagebrush Room of the Carson City Senior Center, 911 Beverly Drive. Doors open at 5 p.m., with dinner following one hour later. There will be dancing, a silent auction, a wine and beer bar, a 50/50 raffle and pictures with Mr. and Mrs. Clause. Entertainment by Kim Copel-Harris as Charley Parkhurst, a local stagecoach driver, will be on hand at Carson City Historical Society’s Christmas party from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Bliss Mansion, 608 Elizabeth St. A brief meeting and election of next year’s officers also will take place. Holiday vendors offering handmade jewelry, salt lamps, baskets, metal art and more will be on hand at the Carson Mall through Dec. 27. Catmandu, a nonprofit cat adoption center, is hosting a booth from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Dec. 11 and 12 and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dec. 13 inside the north end of the mall. Weather permitting, Carson City’s Olde Time Christmas Santa Parade will start at 11 a.m. Dec. 12 at the corner of W. Telegraph and Musser streets. The line begins at 10:30 a.m. Santa will be on the porch at Rocking & Rolling at Telegraph Square with hot chocolate and candy canes from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Vendors will be at Telegraph Square from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. To be a vendor or for information, call Doreen Mack at 775-885-2444.

Western Nevada College in Carson City is hosting Run with Rudolph Winter Trail Run 9-10 a.m. Dec. 12. The course, mostly single track with some sections of fire road in Ash Canyon, offers gradual ascents and descents.

The Dayton Valley Library’s Santa Photo Shoot will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Dec. 12 at the Dayton Community Center on Pike Street. Attendees are asked to bring in a nonperishable food item in exchange for a photo with Mr. and Mrs. Clause. Buckland Station’s holiday open house with sweet treat and period crafts will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 12. Non-perishable food will be collected for the Silver Stage Food Pantry in Silver Springs. Food stored in glass will not be accepted. Buckland Station is on Highway 95A near Stagecoach. First United Methodist Church’s annual Living Nativity starts at King and Division streets and offers live reenactments of Jesus’ birth from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 13. Admission is free. TOCCATA — Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus will present its holiday production of selections from Handel’s Messiah as well as favorite carols the audience is invited to join in singing. The Carson City performance is at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 3597 N. Sunridge Drive. Four other performances are planned this month around the Reno-Tahoe area. The New Victorian Dancers and Carson City Symphony Chorus will be featured in Carson City Symphony’s 32nd annual Holiday Treat concert at 4 p.m. Dec. 13 in the Bob Boldrick Theater of the Carson City Community Center. Cafe at Adele’s is hosting cookies with Santa from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19. There also will be hot chocolate and cider as well as live music by the Dowell Brothers.

Admission is $5 for adults and free for children. Proceeds go to Ron Wood Family Resource Center. Unwrapped toys for local children will be collected at the event.
