RENO — The University of Nevada, Reno says it will be increasing security at Saturday’s winter graduation ceremony in response to current world events.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reports UNR spokesman Natalie Savidge says this is the first time UNR has announced increased security during a graduation. She says there will be checking stations to inspect wrapped gifts.

Saturday’s ceremony will be the school’s largest winter commencement in the school’s history, with 1,604 degrees being awarded to students ranging in age from 19 to 75.
