FALLON — The home advantage spelled double-trouble for both the girls and boys varsity basketball teams from Dayton on Monday night.

Fallon won the girls’ game 64-21 and the boys’ game 60-36.

The Wave’s defense stayed strong from the beginning and shut the Lady Dust Devils down 15-3 in the first.

Fallon’s Fayth Cornmesser was consistently strong on defense and rebounds and scored 6 points for her team.

After the first, the gap only grew wider as the Wave’s offense opened up while their defense continued a full court press.

Dayton’s Angela Sikora led the team with 13 points, six rebounds and three steals followed by Elora Neel and Kayla Celeson who both scored three points.

Fallon’s Megan McCormick led the Wave with 18 points, followed by Leilani Otuafi at 14 points and Caitlyn Welch at nine points.

“Fallon is a solid team. We were able to handle their press but couldn’t hit shots early on and got lazy with our passes,” said Dayton coach Kelly Frantz. “They are a great running team, I have lot of respect for Coach Smith and her team.”

The boys’ game had an entirely different vibe from the start. After winning the tip off by height, the Wave’s Clay Davidson was the first to score after a personal foul by free throw.

Though the Dust Devils would not be able to do more than tie the Wave early on at 6-6 in the first, Fallon pulled away to take an 18-9 lead after one.

Dayton’s Josh Riders led the team with 17 points, followed by TJ Ply at seven points. Dayton’s Trevor Barrows and Weston Hill followed with six points each.

For Fallon, Dylan Ridenour led with 18 points, followed by Davidson who matched Rider with 17 points.

Connor Richardson and TJ Fagg followed with eight points each.
