Turnout for this year’s Santa Train in Carson City exceeded expectations with more than 4,000 visitors experiencing the event, a 26 percent increase in rides compared to last year.

The event included a raffle by Friends of the Nevada State Railroad Museum. Children wrote letters to Santa, and the Carson City Railroad Association displayed an HO scale model layout. Also, for the first time, volunteers dressed in period clothing from the Victorian Era to greet visitors on the platform. Valley Pediatric Dentistry also was on hand to talk about the benefits of good oral health and hand out toothbrushes.
