Gas prices increase statewide

Average gasoline prices increased almost two cents per gallon over the past week in Nevada, according to a survey released Monday.

GasBuddy.com said the Nevada price averaged $2.51 per gallon as of Sunday, based on a survey statewide of 1,130 stations, a boost of 1.9 cents a gallon.

In Carson City, GasBuddy.com said Monday, prices ranged from $2.09 a gallon on the low end at seven stations to $2.59 a gallon on the higher end at one station. There were 24 checked in the state capital by the motor fuels monitoring website.

Nationally, reported GasBuddy.com, the average price stayed steady at $2 per gallon.

The website said the national average has decreased 4.2 cents per gallon over the last month and is 28.2 cents per gallon lower than it was a year ago.

In Nevada, meanwhile, according to the website prices on Sunday were unchanged from a year ago but down 2.4 cents per gallon from a month ago.

The spot month contract for light sweet crude was $36.88 per barrel at 12 p.m. Monday on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
